Ph.D. positions

Ph.D. position in Operator Algebras

This vacancy concerns a 4-year PhD position in operator algebras under the supervision of Martijn Caspers at TU Delft. You will be working on a topic within the area of operator algebras (especially von Neumann algebras) with connections to quantum probability. The aim is to demonstrate that tools from quantum probability and harmonic analysis can be used to describe structural and “rigidity” properties of von Neumann algebras. During the PhD project you will be (mildly)  involved in teaching activities and further research activities of the Analysis group. The starting date is flexible.

Where: TU Delft

Deadline: May 23rd, 2020

Ph.D. position in Analysis

Within the Delft Institute of Applied Mathematics (DIAM), Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Sciences of Delft University of Technology, we offer a PhD position in the research group Analysis for the duration of six years. The PhD candidate will be supervised by W.G.M. Groenevelt. The research work lies at the intersection of the areas of analysis, theoretical probability, and Lie theory. The PhD-project aims to study Markov processes, in particular interacting particle processes, using methods from representation theory.

Where: TU Delft

Deadline: June 1st, 2020
